The main link for sports is from the Dolomiti.it
website: they cover rock clombing, skiing, hiking, mountain
biking, paragliding and more. Please visit it for more info that
we give here.
Mountain biking: We only have information from
the tourist office on this one: The Val di Fassa has 10 official
mountain biking trails, ranging from 8.5 to 41.5 km, with vertical
drops going from 250m to 1800m, in all ranges of difficulties.
Skiing:
The dolomites are well known for their skiing: Val Gardena host
every year a downhill race, we have been to Merano
and enjoyed it a lot and plan to try out some more areas this
winter. Check out Dolomitisuperski.
Hiking:
In this area the hiking is lovely, there are numerous trails leaving
from different altitudes, ranging in lenght and difficulties,
from down the valley along the river to Via Ferratas, many refuges
will also allow for multi day hikes and the High
Routes.
Accomodation:
- There are plenty of B&Bs and hotels in the area, see
for example
- Campsites
(we stayed at a nice campground in Campitello di Fassa, a small
town very colse to Canazei, the campground in Canazei is not
really nice, but the one in Campitello is great, with some spots
right next to the river. Camping Miravalle)
Climbing stores:
- Sport Bernard in Canzei (climbing books and books about
the area)
- Sport am Platz - a very small store at the main junction
in Canazei that has an incredible selection of climbing gear
