A week end at the Hahnenkamm downhill ski race Kitzbühel, Austria

Kitzbühel, is a medium sized ski resort in the Tirol region of the Austrian alps. it is about 4 hours from Vienna, between 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Munich and about 1 1/2 from Salzburg. One of the toughest, if not THE toughest, downhill race is organised there every year in Januar: the Hahnenkamm Race. This year the race will be held from 17th to the 20th january 2002 .

We went there for a weekend of telemarking and snowboarding, and if we had time watch the downhill.

We didn't spend much time there, only a weekend, and were having a good time, so we do not have much concrete info on the town itself.....

  • The home page of Kitzbühel
  • Make sure you drop by the aquarena, the pool, which also has a bar, sauna etc....
  • When looking for food, look in smaller side streets, you will find some good, not so expensive restaurants.
